Sammie loves to hold James. She is so cute with him. She gives him lots of hugs and kisses.
Right after he was born. I only got to see him for a minute, but he was so cute. Amazing how quickly your life changes forever.
Dr. Daddy. Von got all suited up to go into the O.R
James getting all cleaned up. He came out crying. He does not like to be naked. Even now whenever we change his diaper he gets so mad.
Welcome James! He was so mad that they pulled him out. It took them a while to get him calmed down. He was born at 7:53 am on Tuesday, February 15th. He was 8lbs 1 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. This birth was much different than Sammie's. We got up around 4:20 am and got all dressed and headed out to the hospital. We walked back to labor and delivery and checked in. Then we spent two hours getting all prepped and ready. Poor Von spent two hours trying to get some sleep in a very uncomfortable rolley chair. Then they wheeled me into the O.R. and gave me a very painful shot in the back and my entire lover body went numb. Von watched the surgery this time. It was crazy this time around because I was wide awake and very aware of what was going on. With Sam I was so out of it from two days of labor that I did't really remember much. James was kinda stuck in there so it took them a while to get him out. Once he was out he started crying right away and he didn't spot until they had him all bundled and warm. He is such a sweet little guy. He is a good eater most of the time and he is so fun to snuggle. He is perfect. Ten fingers, ten toes. Cute little cheeks and a little button nose. He has dark hair and long, long fingers. He also has long arms and legs. He is such a little miracle. We love him so much and are so blessed to have him in our family.

We had a great time with Von's fam. Everyone, but Heather's fam was able to come. It was good to see everyone. Sammie loved having family in town. She loves attention and she got plenty! She loved her two uncles, Josh and Michael. Plus she now knows who Grandma and Grandma Doggett are and who Oma and Grandpa Higgs are. She points to pics around the house and she knows who is who. She is learning so much so fast. We had a great dinner and we all got to go see the new Harry Potter movie, which is awesome! We also did some black Friday shopping! Von and his brother's went out at 1am and got us a t.v. Then Von's mom and I went to JoAnn's to get some fabric. The lines were too long for us so we went back on Saturday and still got some awesome deals. We had a great weekend and I am so glad everyone came. I love spending the holiday's with family. For me the holiday's are not about what you get, but they are about who you spend them with. I am looking forward to Christmas in Idaho! I love seeing all of my fam! We have a great time together!

Ok so my little Sam is now two years old. She weighs 24 lbs. She is 33in tall. Her favorite movie is Toy story 3. She loves all things Mickey. Her favorite phrases are "No, Mommy!" and "Mine!" She likes to eat Cheetos and loves skittles. She also loves to dance and twirl. Every time a song comes on she starts dancing.

My little girl has grown up so much. She has so much personality and is definitly my child.

Train Ride!

So Von, Sam, and I went with some friends to Boulder City and rode the train. Sammie loved it! Plus there is are a bunch of old trains that you can look at.

I made Sammie her own little apron at a Relief Society activity. She loves to cook so I thought it would be fun for her to have an apron. She loves it! She really likes to put things in the pocket! I had fun sewing! This is my first real project! I did ok. It is not perfect, but that just takes practice!

We made brownies and Von let her have her fist "spatula" lick. She loved it!

She loves to have a bowl and whisk to "mix" her food!

So I haven't posted in almost two months so here is what you missed! My parents came to visit and my brother Brandon came to visit. Sam loved having so much attention! My parents spoiled her just like grandparents should. They played with her and did bubbles many times!

Von's family came to visit and to run in the 5K. Sammie had a great time with her uncle Josh. She is into picking her nose. She thinks it is funny. Josh did too until she picked her nose and stuck her fingers in his mouth!

The Park!

My friend Tracey's little boy Logan turned 1 last week. So we went to the park to celebrate! He was so funny with his cake! He totally did a face plant. It was awesome!

Von and Nate were having just as much fun as the kids! They tried out all of the toys!

It was such a nice day. We were soakin up the sun!

Sammie loves to go on the swings! She is getting to be such a big girl!

This slide was way fun. Sammie can go down all by herself. When she goes down she says "whee!" This is my favorite time of year in Vegas. The weather is awesome and going to the park is so much fun!

Ok so I was doing awesome and my running was coming along, and then I went out of town. Yeah, this week has been horrible. My house has been torn apart and I have been having to leave every day. I have not worked out this week at all. I am just struggling to get motivated again. I am also really struggling with the weight loss. It just seems like as soon as I lose weight then I gain it back. I am just so frustrated and don't know what else to do. Diet and excerise are not working so what else is there?

My cousin Kris is a lot taller than me. She is just standing there and yes I am not bending down, I am just that short!

Sammie and Von just hangin out. Von was a real trooper he chased Sammie all day long. He let me talk with my family while he was busy trying to keep an eye on Sam. She is so busy. She is always on the move and always into something. She is really fun though! We love her so much.

My Grandma Grape(Gray)

Ok so today is a sad day. My sweet little Grandma died today. It is also her birthday. My grandma has been sick for a long time now, so we knew it was only a matter of time, but I am still going to miss her so much. This is the last time I saw my grandma. We went to visit and let her meet Sammie. We sang for her at the nursing home. My grandma loved music! She loved to dance and listen to music. Every year at Thanksgiving when I was a kid we would pack all of my dad's P.A. equipment and take it to Vernal so that we could put on a show for Grandma.

When I think of my Grandma I think of how I used to call her Grandma Grape when I was little. I actually thought that was her name! I didn't know it was actually Gray till I got older. I also remember her sitting in her yellow kitchen drinking tea and doing her cross word puzzles. She loved to do cross word puzzles and play tivial pursuit! She had a great memory and would kick everyone's butt!

I also remember that grandma loved to do the laundry. She would wash the clothes and then go hang them on the line out back. She also loved cloudy skies. Nothing made her more happy than a nice cloudy day. She also loved to people watch out her front window while she washed the dishes. I also remember that Grandma made the best food. It didn't matter what she made, it always tasted soo good. I loved it when she would make breakfast for me. She would always go all out. She would make french toast, bacon, and eggs. She made sure you left that table with a way full tummy!

My favorite memory of my grandma has got to be when Jeremy and Gabe decided to cook a quail in grandma's kitchen at 10:00 at night. They made this smelly marinade to go on it and it stunk uo the whole house. Grandma was already alseep when they started cooking it. The nasty smell woke up grandma and when she saw that they had messed up her nice, clean kitchen she was more mad than I have ever seen her. She stormed into the kitchen with her hair all crazy from sleep and yelled, "What in the Sam Hell do you think you are doin? You better clean up this mess of I'll tan you're hides!" The best part was that the rest of us were watching and trying so hard not to laugh! We knew that if we laughed then grandma would get after us next. After grandma went back to bed the rest of us laughed till we cried. I love my grandma and I will miss her dearly. I am sad that my kids will not get to know her like I did.

New Year's Eve

My brother-in-law Josh came to visit. While he was here, we dyed his hair green with purple highlights.

For New Years we went to a friend's house. They had a fire pit in the back yard and that is where we stayed most of the night. I got so cold that I sat right next to the fire, in fact I sat so close that I caught my shoes on fire!

Von and Josh. It is funny that once you get these two together they revert back to their teenage days! They were being pretty funny! Hope everyone had a great New Year's! I also hope that all of your New Year's resolutions are going well. So far mine are going well. I am working hard every day to get ready for my 5k. Running is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be!

Running!

Ok, so far the wieght loss has been very slow and well just hard! I have been doing weight watchers but I have not been working out. I am not very good at working out. Me and working out are just not friends, but on the long drive to Chinle for Christmas I had some time to think. I decided that I have trouble working out because I have no goals. So I decided that I am going to run a 1/2 marathon. That is right 13 miles! To prepare for this I am going to first train and start with a few 5k runs. Then work up to a 10k and then end with my 1/2 marathon in Logan, UT in September. So I started today and I walked about a 1 3/4 of a mile and ran 1/4 of a mile. I have not ran in a very long time so it was not easy, but it felt great to actually start! So I will be posting my progress as I train for my races! If there is anyone that would like to run with me that would be fun! If you have any tips I would love to hear them! I have seen running change peoples lives and I am hoping that it will help me to be more healthy! So here is day one! Today was good, I am sure tomorrow will be bad, and the next day ugly, but I am going to keep on going!

We are sad becuase our good friends Steph and Justin moved to Idaho. We are happy that they found a job, but way sad to have them move so far!

We went with Tser and Danny to their ward Christmas breakfast. Sammie was way tired!

Sammie sure loves Tser! She will go to Tser even if she is grumpy or sad.

For our FHE on Monday we made homemade Christmas trees! We had lots of fun. Eric and Tracey got creative and made some snow men out of marshmallows! I love this time of year! So fun!

We had such a fun day! All of our friends came and Von's parents and brother came, and then my sister Melissa came. We had a bbq. It was way nice weather. Sammie had so much fun opening her presents and eating her cake! She was really good at opening her presents. She would take the tissue out of the bag and look for the present inside! She was also very good at taking the wrapping paper off!

My friend Tser took these pictures and made them all cute for me!

She got way messy! She loved her big cupcake!

I bought her this cute hat but she did not want to wear it!

The Big Top cupcake pan made an awesome giant cupcake! My sister helped bake and frost all of the cupcakes! It was so fun to have her here! She was such a big help! I can hardly believe my little baby is one!

Von's new look!

For Halloween Von shaved off his facial hair so he could be a creepy clown. He also just cut off all of his hair. He has been growing it out since April. He originally was growing it out until after his brother got home from his mission. Josh was supposed to be home in August but he extended till September so then Von decided to just keep growing for Halloween. It was driving him crazy though so after Halloween he dedcided to chop it all off! So now he has no hair on his face and not much on his head! He looks very different, but I think he looks good no matter what!

Clean shaven for the first time in four years! It is also the first time I have ever seen him without facial hair! I did like the smooth skin!

I was Hermione this year and Sammie was Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ. We went to our ward's Trunk-or-Treat. It was fun. Sammie loved seeing everyone in costume.

We also had a Halloween party at my house. Here are some of our friends!

Here is Von as the ultimate creepy clown. We made him a life size Jack-in-the-Box. So kids had to look in the box for candy and when they opened the lid there was Von. He scared so many kids. One kid jumped into his dad's arms and ouwln't get down again! Von had a great time!

Here is Sammie trying so hard to get to her candy! Her efforts paid off. She chewed so hard on the Starburts that she got through two layers of wrapper to get to the candy inside! Sammie ate a lemon starburst! It wasn't until I smelled the lemon that I realized she was eating candy! She is very sneaky!

So have you ever been this tired? Sammie was so tired and she wouldn't take a nap. So I put her in her high chair to see if she was hungry, and I guess she wasn't cause she crashed hard! First Word!

So Sammie has been saying momma, Dada for a while now, but her first official word is, "uh oh!" She says it when she drops things, or when I drop things! It is way cute! She is also trying to say "hello." She has a play phone and she will put it to her ear and say "hello." She is just learning and growing so quickly!

We went to Idaho last weekend and played at grandmas. There were some balloons left over fromLindsey's shower so the kids had a great time playing with them! This was Sammie's first encounter with balloons. She loved them!

I went to I.F. for my little sisters baby shower. It was lots of fun. Sammie got to hang out with her cousins and I got to spend some time with my family!

Linds is going with the Jungle theme for her nusery. I think it is going to be so cute! I can't wait to meet my new nephew! I know he is going to be so cute!

Baby Proofed????

So I thought that I had "Baby Proofed" the house, HAHAHA! Yeah right! Sammie gets into everything! Her favorite thing to get into is the recycle bin. She loves to play with the bottles of water!

She also loves to get things out of the garbage! Ewww! Yuck! Then I have to wash her hands!

Then she grins when she gets caught! With a face like that I can't get too mad at her!

She loves to take out all of my shoes. I can tell now that she is going to be a shoe girl.

Then there is the computer desk. I sure wish the shelves had a door to protect them but I went cheap and bought my desk at Walmart! That will teach me! Anyway, Sammie is getting so big and she is learning so quickly! I can hardly believe that she will be one in a month! Yikes! My little baby is growing up too quickly! I love her to death (even if she does make a huge mess wherever she goes!)

Ok so they say that a picture is worth a thousand words and with these pictures I can only imagine what those words are! So I had better explain. Von has been growing his hair out since April. He started growing it out because he thought it would be funny to have long shaggy hair for when his brother got home, but his brother is home and he is still keeping it. He is now growing it out till Halloween because he is going to be a creepy clown and wants the hair so he can go a little Joker with the look. Since Von's hair is so long I decided it would be fun to braid his hair. I am not so great at French braiding so I told Von I wanted to practice on him. It was fun and I got to take some awesome pictures! Plus his grandma was watching me braid and suggested that I add some bows to really finish it off! I love my husband! He is so much fun. Plus I am getter better at braiding so when Sammie is older I can do her hair cute. It will also be fun to tell her that I learned to French braid on her dad!

We went to Chinle, AZ this weekend to welcome Von's brother Josh home from his mission and to see our new nephews LaVon and Keith get blessed. We had fun seeing all of Von's family.

10 Months!

Sammie loves to play with her toy box! She takes all of her toys out and then gets in herself! She was having a great time!

She made a huge toy mess, but it was so fun to watch her!

Sam is almost 10 months old. She is crawling now and pulling herself up on everything that she can. She is growing up way too fast.

Here is Sammie all ready for bed. She loves her little bed time routine. We change her clothes and wash her face. Then we read her a story and turn on the night light. Then I put her in her crib with her little "lovie" blanket and turn on the mobile. Then she sticks her fingers in her mouth and is ready to sleep!

Sammie loves bath time! I think most little kids like to have a little naked time! Plus they get to splash and make a mess!

This is Sammie's super cool inflatable duck bath tub! We upgraded her from the baby bath tub to this one. It is super cool. It quacks when you squeeze it's bill! Plus if Sammie falls over it does not hurt! I love this picture cause she has the best hair ever!

Sam also loves to play with her little bath toys! Kids have it so easy! They get toys when they take a bath! What fun!

Hey all! Thank you so much for all of your comments and suggestions. It made me feel so much better to know that all of you care! I would love to open my own pre-school but in the good ol state of Nevada you have to have your Early Childhood endorsement, which I do not have yet, so I decided to go with day care. I made flyers and handed them out at church, so we will see if anyone calls. I am doing better though. My friend Tracey and I have been trying to help each other workout. It makes such a difference to have a buddy. Sammie is doing better. Two out of the four teeth have finally broken through! Yeah! So we are half way there. Plus Von and I went on this awesome canoe trip down the Colorado on Saturday and it was SWEET! We saw lots of big horn sheep and lizards. We also hiked to some hot springs. It was really fun. Anyway, I hope everyone is well! Thanks again for all of your love and support! It really did help!

Goals

OK so here comes a rant. I mean a rut. I am stuck in a life rut. I feel like I am drowning. Everyday I get up and I go through the motions of life, but each day I look back at what I accomplished and I find myself seriously lacking. Then I got to thinking and I decided that my problem is that I don't have any goals. I don't know where I am going and what I want to accomplish. I need some new goals. I also decided that I need a hobby. I have been wasting my days away in front of the TV and I am tired of it. I want to stop watching other people live and start living again myself. I also need a job only I can't think of a job that I can do and still stay home with Sammie and also be able to spend time with Von. I have thought about starting a day care out of my home and try watching kids, but I do not even know where to start. So if anyone knows of anyone who needs a babysitter or of any job that I can do from home please let me know. I am in need of some help. It is at times like these that I wish I had some family around. Living so far from everyone is really hard sometimes. I am sorry if this is a negative post, but I just needed to get it all out. Teething!

So Sammie is getting more teeth! So I have been giving her carrots. They are great for her to chew on. She is getting so big! She is almost 9 months old! Crazy I know!

She loves to play on the floor with all of her toys.

Sammie is not quite crawling yet, but she is getting really close. She is getting really close to sitting up!

Who needs toys?

So I have discovered that to a baby anything can be a toy! Especially food. Every time I try to feed Sammie it is like a battle. She tries to grab the spoon, the bowl, and the food. Then she spreads it every where! It seems to be the worst with carrots. She gets it every where, on the back of her head, in her ear, up her nose. Everywhere!

Yeah, why did I spend money on toys? She loves to play with kitchen utinsels! She really had some fun with my spatula.

Funny kid! Plus this is the only way to keep her occupied so I could get some house work done!

I had so much fun going to Idaho Falls for the Fourth and for my birthday. This year I turned 28! That is right I am into my late twenties! But don't you worry, I am still young at heart! My family sure thinks so, for presents this year I got a Barbie and the Rockers barbie. That is right the original barbie from 1986 for those of you old enough to remember! She is awesome! (thank you Melissa!) Also my mom and little sister Linds got me an Easy Bake Oven! I loved that toy growing up! So Even though I am getting older, ah who cares, I can still play with barbies! Also while I there I just had fun hanging out with my family! We have so much fun together!

So every time I leave Sammie with Von I come home and he has taken some fun pictures with her. This time she was having fun withVon's hat. She thought she was so cool wearing her daddy's hat. Plus she looks so stinkin cute!

The last straw!

Ok so Sammie is now seven months old. She is getting so cute and she is so much fun! I love her more than life itself. I have had to adjust to being a stay at home mom, but I am getting there. The one thing that I am still really struggling with is getting back into shape. It has been seven months and I still have a lot of baby weight to lose. So I tried walking and eating better but then I gained weight, so then I got discouraged, but I am just sick of being out of shape! I am done! So this is the last straw. I have decided that I need to make a change and get myself healthy again. So I thought what better time like right now! Today I being my quest to become more healthy! For my eating protion I decided to go with weight watchers. When I try to count calories or just eat healthy it just never works for me. I need structure. I need rules. So today I begin weight watchers. That is not enough though. I also need to start working out on a regular basis. That part will be more difficult, so if you have any advice or any super cool tricks that work for you please share! Also if anyone has any yummy low fat, low calorie meals, please share! I am not very good with diets so I will need your help. My problem is that I always start strong, but then after a few weeks I sort of fizzle out, so if you could check up on me and ask how I am doing that would be great. I always do better when I know that I will be held accountable! So here goes! Wish me luck!

So as Father's Day gets closer it got me to thinking about my own dad. Now that I am a parent myself I have way more gratitude and respect for my parents than I ever had before. I was blessed with great parents and a great dad. My dad was awesome! He was always so much fun. I remember that he would take his day off and play with the kids. We loved to jump on the trampoline with him and my favorite activity was playing catch. So here are some photos of my with my dad!

Ok. I am a huge fan of the tv show "So you think you can dance." I love it. I look forward to it every summer. I have to say the show this year is already awesome. Plus they already got rid of one of the dancers I didn't like. For those of you that watch the show you know that this years group is really good. It is going to be hard to pick a favorite. Anyway, I love the show and can't wait to see all of the awesome dances they have in store! Makes me wish I had stuck with ballroom! For those of you who have not seen the show, check it out! It is on fox on Wednesdays and Thursday nights. Be careful though, once you watch there is no going back!

Six months, a tooth, and a funny new face!

Ok, so it has been a while since my last post, but man have we been busy! Sammie turned six months old! She is 16 pounds, 25 1/2 inches long, and her head is 43 cm. She is doing well. The doctor described her as "perfect." I don't think you can get a better desciption than that!

To celebrate her six month mark Tser took some more pictures of my little sweetie!

Here is a picture of Sammie's first tooth, it is on the bottom right side. You can't see it very well but it is there! So my little girl is getting so big! She has a tooth!

This is Sammie's funny new face! She makes this huge smile! It looks like she is trying to say "Cheeese!" It is way funny! Anyway, we are well, Sammie is just as cute as can be. Her new favorite food is squash. She loves it! She also loves to get it everywhere! Including my face and hair!

We went to Vernal to go and visit with my Ma. She has been sick for a long time now and I have not been able to see her. Plus she has never met Sammie Mae. We had a great time with her. She loved Sammie. It was also a really fun trip because Brandon, Linds, Logan, Melissa, and Reagan came. It was almost like a family reunion! While we were there we sang some songs and entertained the residents at my Ma's rest home. My Ma loves music so we mainly did it for her. We also got to see our aunts, uncles, and cousins while we were there. I always love going to Vernal.

Reagan is so funny. She kept getting in Sammies car seat and pretending to go to sleep. She is a little dare devil. She fell out of the car seat more times than she actually made it in it. She is getting so big and becomming so independent. She wanted to do everything herself. She was very entertaining to watch.

Reagan also loved to play with Sammie. She would bring Sammie toys and then take them away and bring her a different toy. Every time she would see Sam she would say, "Baby." Reagan and Sam are almost exactly a year apart. So it gave me a good idea what Sam will be like in a year. I have one word to describe it, busybody! She keeps Melissa on her toes! I don't know how Melissa does it! I don't know how any mom does it! So to all you moms out there with more than one kid I salute you! You are all amazing!

Here is Sammie Just chillin on the steps of our new house. I need to get a baby gate real soon! The last thing I need is for Sam to fall down the stairs.

Von headed up the moving crew. It was so nice to have so many people from our ward show up to help. They were a huge help.

Our friends Tser and Danny came to help as well. Tser was awesome. She was my babysitter all day. Sammie just loves Tser. They had a lot of fun together and it left me free to start unpacking!

Tser, me, and sam were getting ready to leave the old place. It was weird to say goodbye to the apartment. Von and I lived in that apartment complex for two years. It was the first place we lived in after we got married and it was Sammie's first home. We had a lot of good memories there, but I am sure that we will have a lot of good memories at our new house! Plus we are finally working towards owning something rather than flushing our money down the rent toilet every month! So yea!

Ok, so here it is! Our first house! Crazy eh? We are almost done unpacking. It has been kinds tricky with Sam around, but we did it! I just have a few little area's that need to be finished like hanging all of the pictures up. That is always the part that takes the longest. I also never realized just how many pictures I had until I was unpacking them! Holy cow I have a lot of pictures!

Our friends Eric and Tracy invited us to go to their ward Luau. It was lots of fun. The food was awesome! I think it might have been better than the food I ate in Hawaii! There was also a dance performance. It was very fun.

Von bought me some really pretty flowers!

Yea! It has been two years! Von and I have been married for two whole years now! It has been a wonderful two years! A lot has happened since we first got married. The biggest thing was by far having Sammie Mae! She is the best thing that could ever have come into our lives. We love her so much and she brings so much joy to our life. Von also started into his electrical apprentice, give us four more years and he will be a bonifide electrician. We moved two times and we are preparing to move again! We are in the process of buying a house! I switched jobs, I went from being a full time teacher to being a full time mom. Let me tell you that being a mom in much harder! Anyway, on April 7th we celebrated our 2nd anniversary. To celebrate we recreated the night that Von proposed to me. We went out to Nelson's landing and had tin foil dinners and watched a movie under that stars. It was a great night and we had a lot of fun together. It has been a great two years! I am so lucky that I got to marry the man of my dreams!

So Samantha is four months old now! Holy cow time is flying by! She gets to start eating solid food now! Today was the first day of real food! I fed her some oatmeal cereal. She actually really liked it, well the part that got in her mouth that is.

We don't have a high chair yet, so Von is using is legs! It worked out pretty well!

Then Sammie decided that she wanted to feed herself. She took the spoon and was putting it in her mouth. I think She just thought is was cool that she could hold it. She also liked to chew on it.

She is just such a happy girl! She is getting so big! The doctor said that she is also starting to get her first tooth! I wasn't expecting that for a little longer, but oh well!

On Sunday February 1st, 2008 we blessed Samantha. We had a wonderful weekend. Most of my family and Von's family came. There were a few siblings that couldn't make it. We missed them tons! We had a family BBQ on Saturday to celebrate Von and my Dad's birthday's. Then on Sunday we blessed Sammie and then had lunch at Steph and Justin's house. They are awesome friends that opened their home to our family and our friends. We could not ask for better friends. Thank you to all of you that came to support us! Von and I are so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family in our lives!

Ok so I am a little behind on my blogging! Two weeks ago I went to Utah to Visit my sister, mom and my grandma. Because of horrible weather we didn't get to go see my Grandma, but I did have a fun visit with my sister Melissa and my Mom. Samantha had a great time with her cousins! She loved all of the attention. Melissa's kids would come over and talk to her and smile at her! Plus every time Reagan saw me she would say "baby!" She knew that Samantha is mine! So cute!

I didn't pack warm enough jammies, so Melissa got out some of Aidan's old ones and Samantha wore them. So that is why she looks like a boy in this picture. She loved her cousin Aidan. He would talk to her and she would just smile and laugh!

Oh Jane Austen

So I don't know why, but I have been way into Jane Austen movies as of late. I have three different versions of Pride and Prejudice, which happens to be my favorite. I opted to watch the six hour Colin Firth version this time around. It is the most accurate version and Colin Firth makes an excellent Mr. Darcey. I am not really a fan of the girl that plays Jane, but that is ok. So I started my Jane Austen kick off by watching Pride and Prejudice. Then I watched Northanger Abby, Persuasion, and then Mansfield Park. I am planning on watching Emma and then Sense and Sensibility. That will conclude my marathon because if you are familiar with Jane Austen that is all of the books that she wrote! If you have not yet watched any of these movies or read any of her books then you are missing out. There is something wonderful about that time period. I love the clothes and the language. The women were elegant and the men were gentlemen. They attended parties and dances. The rode horses. All I have to say is if you are an Austen Virgin, you need to start with Pride and Prejudice and then watch Emma. Those two are my favorite! I love Jane Austen's work and I just wanted to share that love with all of you! Her books are perfectly wonderful!

Ok so I know that I should be staying home and resting, but I can't stand to be stuck at home 24/7. So on Sunday I only went to Sacrament meeting. It seems like it has been ages since I went to church so I was so glad to be there. Everyone thought I was crazy. They kept telling me I should not be out and about. Von told me that I am going to make the other wives look like wimps because I am recovering so well. I really do feel so much better. As soon as this third week began I really do feel a million times better. I will not be running any marathons, but I feel great. Plus I had fun putting Samantha in a cute little dress. She looked so cute! Anyway, we are doing well and can't wait to see everyone at Christmas!

Ok, so even though half of our family ditched out on our Thanksgiving we still had fun. We also now have a ton of left over turkey! I am very lucky to have such a wonderful mother. She came and stayed for a week and was such a huge help. I don't know how any new mom could ever survive the first week without any help. So thanks so much mom! Not only do I have a great mom who was there for me, but I also have a wonderful husband who was there for me too. We had a great first week. Mom was a huge help. We took Samantha to her first doctor's appointment today and I am proud to report that she is back to her birth weight and then some! Plus the doctor said that she is just perfect. So Yeah! On a funny note, almost every time we change her diaper she will pee or poop while we are in the process of changing her diaper. Today for instance. I opened her diaper and left it there because she is known to go while in mid change and I reached for a wipe I look back and there is poop flying over the diaper and all over the changing table. I had no idea that poop could actually fly that far! I have hear of projectile vomitting, but not projectile poop! So I am definitly being broken into the mommy role real quick!

Ok everyone, She is here! Samantha Mae Higgs was born on Sunday, November 16th at 10:04 am. She was 8 pounds 2 ounces and 20.5 inches long. She has tons of dark hair and has long fingers and toes. She is just as cute as a button. She is such a sweet baby and we are hooked! Both Von and I are just smitten with our little girl. We got to leave the hospital on Tuesday and bring her home. It is so nice to be out of the hopsital. I was there from Friday to Tuesday and that is way too long! I tried to have her naturally but my body would not cooperate, so they did a c-section. It is still pretty painful and hard to get around, but lucky for me I have a great husband and a wonderful mom who came to help out. So we are doing well. Baby showers are so much fun. I have so many amazing friends and family members! They really helped Von and I get ready to have the baby. I have most of the things that we really need. So when I have seen her, then I will email you all and let you know! I have 22 days left to go! Holy Cow! Ok so seeing the New Kids on the Block was AWESOME! They sang all of their old songs, and yes they did the same dance moves! I thought I was going to pee my pants! It was so fun! Plus they sang my favorite song, "Step by Step." It was so cool. It was like getting into a time machine. They did sing some new songs too. They are actually pretty good singers. Jordan can still hit all of the high notes. Joey is still the cute one. Donny is still the bad boy. Danny kinda hung in the back, but he can still break dance. Then there was Jonathan, yeah he was just kinda there! But like I said, AWESOME! I went with my cousin Jenny and my Aunt Val. It was so nice to see family. Plus they are tons of fun even if we didn't go to a concert. So here are some photos of the show. We are kinda far, but you get the idea!

Ok so here I am! I have 10 more weeks to go! It is crazy. Time is going by so fast! I am not ready yet. I still don't have anything for the baby yet. If she comes early I am in big trouble! Her room is full of boxes and extra stuff that we have no idea where we are going to store it! But, Von and I are good. We are all moved into our new place. We are both getting really excited to be parents and can't wait to meet our little girl!

Ok so my my sister Mel tagged me! I am supposed to tell six random facts about myself! so here goes!

1. I hate it when people leave their shoes in the middle of the floor! It drives me crazy! They have to be put away! I have a shoe organizer by my door and I also have a shoe basket! That way all the shoes have a home! I also hate it when people don't throw away their garbage and instead they just leave it sitting on the table or couch! Drives me nuts!

2. Like Melissa I also have a wierd food eating ritual. I also eat my food in a certain order. I have to eat the vegetables first, then the bread, and then the main dish. I also cannot stand it when my food touches! Yuck they cannot mix till they are in my belly!

3. I am so not crafty! Ironically enough, that is my church calling! I am on the enrichment commitee and I am over the crafts! Haa! So to compensate Von makes all of my crafts for me. He likes making them and he does an awesome job! He is also a way better cook than I am! Sometimes I wonder what I bring to the table in our relationship!

4. I love the 80's! I love 80's movies and 80's music! For my birthday Von got me Sing Star 80's! I had so much fun! I knew almost every song! Even more funny is that Von hates the 80's! So that just shows that he really loves me! He was willing to listen to me and my friends sing 80's songs all night long!

5. I am a little obsessed with my classroom. I have to have it perfect. I can't leave school on Friday unless my lesson plans are done and the room is all ready for Monday. I am also a freak when it comes to making copies. I always try and have my copies made at least three months in advance. Most teachers are lucky if they can get their copies made for the week, heck some of them can barely get them made for the day. Not me! I have to have them done way in advance! I am insane!

6. I love sour candy! Ok wait, I love candy! But I really love sour candy. I have been hooked on those yummy little sour watermelons. They are so good! Every time I go to the store I have to look for them. Luckily for my teeth they are kinda hard to find. Other wise I would eat them every day! I just love em!

We are having a girl!

So we went to the doctor today and we found out that we are having a girl! Yea! I am so excited to go shopping and buy cute clothes. We have no idea what we are going to name her yet! So if you have any cute names send them my way! We are just so excited!

Well I was way busy last week. I did three visits in one week! I went to Idaho and hung out with my parents. I also went to Canton twice! So good! Plus the weather in Idaho was so nice. It was awesome to get out of the 115degree heat we have here in good ol Vegas. I love going and spending time with my family. I wish that I could go more often. Then after Idaho I went to Utah to see my sister Melissa and her kids. Then I went to Veranl to visit my grandma and all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins there. We had such a good time together.

Okay, so I am free! I have four weeks off from school! Let me just tell you that it feels great! Plus I am way excited because I get to go to Idaho Falls on Monday! It seems like forever since I have been home. I have been craving Canton so you know I will be all over that! Plus I find out what I am having in a little over a week! Don't worry I will post it as soon as I know! So anyway, Yahoo for freedom! Idaho here I come!

The Belly! This is for you Linds!

Ok so Linds wanted to see just how big my belly is getting, so here it is in all of it's pregnant glory! Yeah I know what you are thinking, HOLY COW it is getting big fast! I guess that is what happens when you are 5' nothin with no torso. The poor kid has no where to go but straight out! Oh, and also I find out what I am having on July 3rd! don't worry I will keep all of you posted!

Arizona

So Von and I took a little trip to Arizona this weekend to see family and to see a really cute new neice! I hope that Von and I's kids are as cute as our neices and nephews. We had a good time. We got to hold our newest neice Hailey Elizabeth and also play with our other niece Alexis Mae. We went to the park and had fun. We sure miss out family when we are away!

Then comes a baby...

Yeah! Von and I are so excited to have a baby! I am so excited to be a mom. I know it will be tough, but I also know that it will be worth it. The baby is due on November 16th. I am 14 weeks. I will find out what I am having sometime at the end of June.

Then Comes Marriage

Von proposed to me on December 9th 2006. He took me to one of his favorite spots called Nelson's Landing. It is a pretty little spot right off of the Colorado river. He made a fire and cooked us tin foil dinners. While the dinners were cooking he went to his truck and grabbed a teddy bear. Then he gave it to me. Then he asked me where I thought he got it, me being dumb answered, I don't know a gas station? Then he laughed and said "no, I got it in a jewlery store."(by the way, I was still clueless at this point.) Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I finally clued in and answered, "YES! Oh heck yes I'll marry you!"

We were married on April 7th 2007 in the Idaho Falls temple. It was a beautiful day. Almost all of our family got to be there. It was one of the best days of my life. I am so lucky to have found such a wonderful guy. He is amazing. I have never been so happy in all my life. It is wonderful to have finally found my match.

First Comes Love

Von and I met in our singles ward. He first noticed me when we were bowling (I have one ehck of a celebration dance) and I first noticed him country dancing ( he is a great dancer.) I invited him to go dancing one night, I had to call a friend to get his number, and then when I did call I didn't even know if he knew who I was so I said, "This is Jessica Doggett, from your ward." I had no idea that he had been checkin me out! So we went dancing and he asked me out for a date the very next day. Let me just say, BEST FIRST DATE EVER! The date started at four pm and ended at 4 am. Needless to say that after only one date we were both hooked!

I am Jessica Higgs and I am married to Von Higgs. We live in Henderson, NV. We have been married for a little over a year. I teach first grade and Von is working and going to school to be an electrition. We are going to be parents very soon! Our first baby is due on November 16th. We are so excited. We don't know what I am having yet, but we will find out at the end of June.
